Hello! I am Ravish Kalra. I’d like to be modest and not type too much talking about myself (also because am running out of time for now). I have spent 5 years after finishing my undergrad degree in a polar opposite field of cyber-security. How I got in there would probably take a few more chapters here so am going to save that for a social event.

Academic Background

Professional Background

Currently, I am a TA to a class of 108 students teaching Business Analytics. Before joining UC, I worked at DELL EMC for 5 years; extensively in web application development, identity and access management and a few components of cyber security that dealt with vulnerability attacks and their counter measures. I am quite comfortable with coding in JAVA, Python, C and different UI based frameworks as well so the idea of “<-” as an assignment operator just doesn’t go well with me.

Experience with R

My experience with R is limited to the Bootcamp and a few self-paced courses online including DataCamp. Familiarity with other programming languages is a great help for me in learning R so far.

Experience with other Analytics Softwares

The only real analytics experience I had prior to UC was Text mining for a project that aimed at developing a chat-bot for all IT questions. I worked on python NLTK and scikit learn packages along with pandas numpy. After joining UC, I learnt a bit of SAS for a project on Flight Simulation and did a fair job predicting landing distance given the current flight parameters :-)
