HW6:

S5, problems 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

All the relevant files used in this assignment can be found here.

1:

Pg. 131, chapter 5: Properties are input values that can be specified when you place (or instantiate) an object into your model while States are dynamic values that change as the model executes.

2:

The parent object is the server itself - an instance of the object in which the “serving process” is defined. The assoicated object is the object that gets the server to start working in the first place.

3:

For this model, I first tried JaamSim and while I was successful I was having some issues with figuring out how the ExpressionEntity could make some calculations so I ended up creating the model in Simio.

As shown above, the JaamSim example requires many components while the Simio version is rather streamlined, below:

I have a number of thoughts about relative strengths and weaknesses of each that I will save for now.

Here are the results of the Simio model that show the output matches table 5.2:

Please find the model, created in Simio, below:

Below, please find the results from 300 replications of 8hrs each. I have included the average and maximum of the runs. It appears that on average, a DMV customer will spend at least 30 minutes and up to 45 minutes to complete the process.

The ease of use of Simio is quite remarkable.
