Open Source Software

Robert Perez

Open Source Software is a computer software that is available in a source code form. This source code which usually was reserved for copyright holders only, are now provided under a software license which allows users to study, change, and improve the software. However not all Free Software is Open Source software. Open Source software mainly refers to being able to use modify and sometimes redistribute.Free/Open source refers to being able to freely access a product’s design and not to the “price” of the software. Open Source Software is all about having the freedom to: run the program, study how the software works, change it if needed and also improve the program.
