About Me
I’m Robert, a lifelong Demon Deacon fan and North Carolina native. I was born in Winston-Salem and grew up in Raleigh before returning for undergrad at Wake Forest. I spent a year working in Charlotte and another year working in Raleigh before deciding on grad school.
I’m a firm believer that North Carolina is the best state in the country, that there’s a right way to do barbecue, and that Wake Forest has a top 20 basketball program over the last 25 years (despite a 6 year speed bump). But more on that later.
Education
- Wake Forest University, BA in Economics, 2015
- Wake Forest University, Candidate for MS in Business Analytics, 2018
Experience
Professional
- Three Ships, Raleigh, NC, May 2016 - September 2016
- Launched a new startup in digital marketing and was responsible for data collection and analysis, marketing strategy, and sales processes. Ultimately, this venture failed, but it was a hugely valuable experience.
- Red Ventures, Charlotte, NC, June 2015 - May 2016
- Managed a major national brand’s (Verizon) paid digital marketing on a team of 4 analysts. Collaborated with over 40 analysts on different businesses about A/B testing and other creative ways to improve the business. This was my exposure to data science and analytics that got me hooked.
Technical
- R: I have limited experience with R. I tried teaching myself while working in Charlotte, but never used it for any practical purpose.
- Other: I’ve used SAS and Python, but only on a surface level. I have experience with HTML from my digital marketing days, but never coded a site myself. I have extensive knowledge of Excel.
Hobbies
- Travel
- Golf
- Watching sports (Especially basketball)
- Eating / Drinking
- Barbecue (chopped or pulled pork with a vinegar based sauce) is one of my favorite foods and the best place to get it is only a 25 minute drive from Winston.
- Wake Forest Basketball
- I grew up attending games and have followed the team closely ever since. If you ever have a question on this topic, I can answer it. If you want to get stuck hearing a chronicle of the WFU basketball program, ask two questions. Some of my favorite memories include:
