-Goal: Exploratory Visualizations of the AirPassengers dataset

The Project

For this project there are two objectives:

  • Develop and deploy a Shiny application
  • Create and publish a pitch deck to present the application

As there was no clear instructions given on what the project should be about, we have chosen to create an application that allows easy and quick exploratory analysis on the AirPassengers dataset, enabling this way people with no R background to get a sense of the dataset.

The Dataset

The classic Box & Jenkins airline data. Monthly totals of international airline passengers, 1949 to 1960. The data is from the R datasets package. A sample plot of the data using ggplot2:

The Application

The application can be found here.

The user can use the slider and the checkboxes to choose which data they want visualized. The plots show the AirPassengers by Year or by Month, having the respective 3rd variable as a color indicator.
