What is Big Data

Big data is a term that describes the large volume of data that a business collects on a day-to-day basis. Examples include millions of users’ activities on Facebook and Youtube; searches on Google; and users’ purchases patterns on Amazon, etc.

Analysis on big data can give us unique insights about customers’ behaviours that are hidden, and create many new opportunities, for example, predicting the mostly likely next purchase a customer is going to make, or creating clusters of customers that allows more effective and targeted advertisements.
