Conclusion And Shiny

Conclusion 1. Luxurious(four-dollar-sign) restaurants have better services than other restaurants in general. They provide consumers with better parking services, easier access to public transportation and quieter environments. The distribution of restaurants in Pittsburgh is generally affected by the function and location of the neighborhoods. For example, the central neighborhoods and neighborhoods along riverside attract more restaurants compared to others. In addition, food in the most expensive restaurants consists of expensive ingredients like salmon and whiskey.

Conclusion 2. Text analysis shows that most reviews on yelp are more associated with the food. However, reviews with positive sentiment scores account for the smallest proportion of all reviews for luxurious restaurants. Therefore, consumers are least satisfied about food provided by luxurious restaurants among all 4 price-level restaurants. This could be due to either an average taste of the food, or a higher expectation of the taste according to its high price.

Conclusion 3. Since luxurious restaurants have higher median of ratings from consumers, we can infer that consumers rate them higher not purely due to good food, but partly for services instead. It is possible that they expect more delicious food in luxurious restaurants, but only average food are provided to them, which result that they wrote down more neutral reviews about most expensive restaurants. Therefore, our hypothesis is proved, that more expensive restaurants do not necessarily provide better food.

Therefore, based on our criteria, we created a shiny app to help consumers find which restaurant in Pittsburgh can provide really good food. https://greenorange1994.shinyapps.io/Shiny/
