Introduction

In this presentation, I will display two graphs made with plot_ly. The data comes from my Master's thesis examining assaults on police officers based on the number of various military-based equipments states were purchasing over time. In this presentation, I will show the full dataset, and then choose a state at random (Michigan) to get a better sense of it.

The Full Data

Overall, we concluded that survellience equipment, not weapons, were increasing assaults against police.

Michigan

It's a little clearer to see here how weapon purchases has no effect - positive or negative - in assaults. The survellience effect is a bit harder to see, but in general it caused about a 6-8% increase in assaults across state-months.

Thanks!
