Preamble

The data are taken from Veðurstofan. Unfortunately some prior mouse clicking, downloading and cleaning outside the R-code was needed/done.

Note: In the analysis that follows only earthquakes with a quality equal to and greater than 60 are included.

Some explorations

The graphical presentation that follows is in one sense a hindcast, given what is at present already observed as measurements. A case in point is the SW-NE path that is represented by a pink colour in the next graph.

Colours indicate the size of the earthquakes.

  • Blue dots: all quakes.
  • Red dots: recent quakes.
  • Yellow point: Center of gravity by the hour.
  • Black line: Trajectory of the center of gravity.
