Analysis of average monthly temperatures in Madrid - Spain from 1995 to 2015

Study and purpose

The analysis take the data published by “Instituto de Estadística” de la “Comunidad de Madrid”. Data are registered by a meteorological station based in the Retiro, the main park in Madrid. http://www.madrid.org/iestadis/fijas/estructu/general/otros/clehre.htm

The purpose is study the last 20 years records in order to see if the capital of Spain is affected by an increment of temperatures and see posibles tendencies.

The monthly records are averages of daily data, also maximum and minimum are provided.

Conclusions

At first glance it seems that temperature has been increasing during the last 20 years in Madrid. But going further with de analysis it seems that winters are getting colder. The period of analisys is quite short to any final conclusion, but in general we can say that during the last 20 years temperatures has been getting more extreme in Madrid.

The application uses R and shiny to offer and interactive experience to the user who don't need to do any instalation or dowload. As it is a cloud service external servers make the calculation job don't waisting cpu in the computer that visit the web. App and git repo:
