The stockVis looks up stock prices by ticker symbol and displays the results as a line chart.
The stockVis relies heavily on two functions from the quantmod package:
getSymbols to download financial data straight into R from websites like Yahoo finance and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.The stockVis lets you:
Suppose you want to look up the recent stock prices of Microsoft.
Step 1: Go to Yahoo Finance.
Step 2: Find the stock symbol of Microsoft by searching Microsoft. (You can find it's MSFT.)
Setp 3: Type MSFT in the textbox.
Step 4: Pick a range of dates you want to review and click Get Stock.
Step 5: Choose whether to plot the log of stock prices.
Step 6: Choose whether to adjust for inflation.
You will see the stock prices as a line chart on the right!
