Annual Expenditure Analyzer

• This application allows a user to compare his/her household annual expenditure with that of Americans in a similar situation

• The comparison is done across different expenditure categories

• The average annual expenditure data is gathered from the Consumer Spending reports published by The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

• The Consumer Spending data is very detailed, in terms of demographics and categories of spending

• The application categorizes the demographics into the following groups

  • Age Group, Income Level, Region of residence & Race

• The application groups the spending categories into the following

  • Food Expenses, Housing Expenses, Utilities, Transporation, Entertainment & Misc. Expenses

• The user accesses the application http://sammyds.shinyapps.io/expApp/

• The application shows the default American national average expendiure data, collected from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

• The user inputs his/her relevant demographic and expenditure data

• The application re-calculates the national avarages for that demographic group and shows comparisons
