Overview

My Shiny app provides a way to dynamically graph the historical volume of water stored in the Lake Shasta reservoir. For ease of use, it is setup to select the dates in yearly blocks.

Data

Here is a sample of the data that I extracted from the California Department of Water Resources website. I've gone back 17 years as there were no missing values back that far and it was otherwise sufficient. This data collection began 30 years. See last page for references.

## Date Elev AF Days
## 1 1999-01-01 1019.6 3277302 0
## 2 1999-01-02 1019.91 3284762 1
## 3 1999-01-03 1020.31 3294399 2
## 4 1999-01-04 1020.54 3299942 3
## 5 1999-01-05 1020.76 3305244 4
## 6 1999-01-06 1020.97 3310303 5

Observations

From the graph, it is fairly easy to identify drought years and normal years. Furthermore, it is possible to gain a little more insight by narrowing down the selection range.
