A Network Analysis of Amherst College Courses and Departments
The following networks show the relationship of Amherst College’s academic departments in terms of how often a course from another department (edge width) or one’s own department (node size) is referenced. With both the 2014-2015 and 2016-2017 academic years on hand, it is possible to see how relationships are changing over time.
Of the 41 different categories of departments (including sub-departments), the six that remain unconnected are: Arabic (ARAB), Chinese (CHIN), Computer Science (COSC), Greek (GREE), Japanese (JAPA), and Latin (LATI).
Hover over a node or zoom in to see the department name. Click on the node to see the relationships it has with other departments. Zoom in or click and drag a department node to carefully examine the relationships it has with other departments.
