The following matrix shows the number of newly opened all-charter school districts by year between SY 1999-00 and 2014-15 and the number of them that survived in the subsequent years. For example, in SY 2000-01, 271 new all-charter districts were established, of which 101 were closed over the years and only 170 remained operating in 2014-15. Caveat: Some charter districts have been assigned new IDs, which appear in NCES database as new districts.
