Below is an interactive visualization of the 2016 presidential election results, by county. Each scatterplot displays the proportion of votes per candidate against (log) population density. The color of each point (and the corresponding county in the map) encodes the percentage of the population that voted. As this video shows, all the views are linked, so that brush events made anywhere on a scatterplot panel highlights the corresponding counties in every display.
