Finding slow-loading web pages

As a User Experience Analyst, my job is to ensure usability of every page on our e-commerce site in order to maximize profitability by

  • Keeping users engaged with our website
  • Making sure buttons and navigation are intuitively understood
  • Watching out for bugs and inefficiencies

Pages that take too long to load are abandoned by potential customers.

Slow pages are a major inefficiency and drain on the bottom line.

Rather than visiting another page in our site, users are likely to leave the site entirely.

This Shiny app explores slow-loading pages and their number of pageviews over a 30 day period.

  • The “input” is you! You must either click or highlight points on the plot.
  • The “output” is the data shown at the bottom of the screen. It shows which URLs you've selected.

This Shiny app is expecially useful to my company because we have not selected a target load time yet.

All we know is that the 15 second average load time for popular pages is too long.

Can you suggest, based on this data, an average load time that should be our target goal?
