Number of stations

In this simple analysis, the total number of different types of alternate fuel stations in the USA is evaluated. Extending this procedure to different countries could evolve the presence of a rising trend in a certain alternate fuel. It would be interesting to then find out whether it is correlated with the trend of oil prices or oil production rate. Also, it may be worthwhile to find out the reasons behiing the rising trends of a certain fuel as compared to others (the reasons could be increased commercial success, greater funding in its research etc.)

The different types of alternate fuels are (1) Biodiesel, (2) CNG (3) Electricity (4) Hydrogen (5) LNG (6) LPG

d <- read.csv("alt_fuel_stations.csv", header = TRUE)
colnames(d)[1] <- "fuel"
plot(table(d$fuel), ylab = "Number of stations", xlab = "Fuel Type")

As seen from the plot, the number of electricity stations are the highest.
