It seems that a higher percentage of undergraduate students prefer going for construction industry rather than traffic engineering. This is interesting and require further investigation for answering why is it so?. In contrast, higher number of graduate students preferred traffic engineering as a working field, more than construction. However, the number of grdauate students who responded was very less i.e. only 8.
It is hard to make any conclusion about relative's influence in making decision for choosing transportation engineering. The charts show that in collected sample, candidates who had relatives in a relevant field e.g. civil engineering, construction, etc chose transportation engineering. However, the remaining plots show that having relatives in a relevant field have a reverse effect. This requires further investigation to see what are the real determining factors in choosing the profession.
To be continued.
