Basics

Introduction

This data was downloaded from the UC Berkeley Library from records in their online directory. You can find the data sets at the following website: http://tiny.cc/dcf/Library-small.rda

The Bks data table has 3765 cases, meaning 3765 books that may or may not be in the libraries collection. It also has 15 variables. Some of the information that can be drawn from this set include title, author, publication date, format, call number, and other variables in the set of 15 listed in the table.

On the other hand, the Inv data table has 2000 cases of books and has 18 variables. the Inv data table provides an inventory or collection of the books in the data table. Some of the information that can be drawn from this set include shelving location, book type, call number, author, title, ISBN number, and many more.

Table Displays

Below, one can observe the current status of books in the library, listing the number of available books in the library, missing books, loaned books, and withdrawn books. The left column, labeled Current.Status displays the different statuses while the right column, labeled n displays the number of books befitting the corresponding status type.

Discussion

As such, the results of the tables display current information about book statuses and number of times books have been checked out respectively. This can be used to provide quantitative information on the quantity of books that were checkd out, loaned, and other statuses, but does not display specific books in particular. To do so, other functions may be used to provide a list of a few books in the package for more information about the data table.
