The following chart is a ranking of 168 countries by inequality, measured by the Gini coefficient, from most unequal to most equal. The Gini coefficient is for the year 2021. For those countries for which the Gini coefficient is not available in 2021, the coefficient was taken from the maximum year for which it is available and the year is shown in brackets. The source is the World Bank database, using the WDI R package.

The top ten most unequal countries are Namibia, Colombia, Botswana, South Africa, Eswatini, Brazil, Zambia, Angola, Panama and Zimbabwe.

At the other extreme, the top ten most equal countries are Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Netherlands, India, Czechia, Kiribati and United Arab Emirates.

The middle ten are China, West Bank and Gaza, Marshall Islands, Iran, Indonesia, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire, Lebanon, Russia and Qatar.
