For this assignment, I will analyze airline arrival data for Alaska Airlines and AM West across five destinations: Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle.
I will first recreate the provided data in a CSV file using the same
wide format as the original table, including any missing values. I will
upload the data file to GitHub and read it into R. Using
dplyr and tidyr, I will clean the data, handle
missing values, and transform it from wide format to long format.
I will then calculate the percentage of flights that were delayed and on time for each airline. I will compare the overall performance of Alaska Airlines and AM West and then compare their performance separately across the five destinations using tables and visualizations.
Finally, I will examine whether the overall comparison tells the same story as the city-by-city comparison and explain any discrepancy between the two results.
