Output 1: Collaborative/Single Author Publications by College
Sole authored papers by TAMU scholars are rare. The most appear in the College of Arts & Sciences, and several Colleges have no sole authored papers at all. TAMU scholars are therefore used to collaborating in publication with other scholars both at TAMU and externally. Encouraging them to collaborate with their peers should not be a difficult task. They are by-and-large already doing it.
Output 2: Collaborative/Single Author Publications (TAMU Only) by College
When non-TAMU authors are not considered, the number of sole-TAMU authors increases across all colleges. However, collaborative (e.g. multiple TAMU authors on a single paper) still outnumber the cases where only a single TAMU author is involved in a publication. This pattern appears across all colleges. This further indicates that TAMU facaulty and students are working together (and not exclusively with external colleagues).
Output 3: Collaborative Publications Among Colleges
Colleges tend to collaborate primarily within themselves. The circles showing single college collaborations (e.g. EN:EN) are nearly always the largest. Larger colleges tend to have more with colleges outside of their own. VM, AT, EN, PH, MD and AG are notable. This isn’t surprising since colleges group similar departments together. Cross college collaborations are more easily seen when the large circles of intra-college collaborations are removed.
Output 3: Collaborative Publications Between Colleges
Though considerably fewer than intra-collegiate collaborations, inter-collegiate collaborations are happening all ocross the Univerity. Larger colleges have more collaborations with more colleges, though some colleges are particularly noteworthy for collaborating across a large variety of other colleges and schools. The School of Public Health, for example has collaborations with Arts & Science, Architecture, Engineeiring, and Nursing.
