This report organizes publicly available secondary data describing transportation conditions, scheduled transit service, and traffic safety in Linda, California. It is intended to support First 5 Yuba’s CARB grant evaluation and community-planning activities.

1 Summary

The most recent American Community Survey estimates indicate that 5.7% of Linda households lack access to a vehicle. Among workers age 16 and older, 78.0% drove alone, while 1.0% used public transportation as their primary commute mode. Approximately 23.5% had a one-way commute of at least 45 minutes.

The transit analysis identified 59 stops in Linda or its quarter-mile access buffer. On the reference weekday (2026-09-15), those stops were served by 153 distinct scheduled trips, representing 1,734 scheduled stop visits.

From 2021–2025, the California Crash Reporting System identified 1,616 reported collisions within the Linda CDP. These included 526 injury collisions, 13 fatal collisions, 78 pedestrian collisions, and 38 bicyclist collisions.

2 Community Transportation Characteristics

ACS estimates are provided for Linda, Yuba County, California, and ZCTA 95901. ZCTA 95901 is retained as a contextual geography but should not be treated as equivalent to the Linda CDP because its boundary extends beyond Linda.

ACS 2024 Five-Year Estimates and 90% Margins of Error
Indicator Linda CDP Yuba County California ZCTA 95901
Workers with a one-way commute of 45 minutes or more 23.5% ± 3.9 25.8% ± 2.4 19.4% ± 0.1 25.1% ± 3.6
Commute mode: Bicycle 0.1% ± 0.2 0.1% ± 0.1 0.7% ± 0.0 0.1% ± 0.1
Commute mode: Carpooled 12.9% ± 3.5 12.0% ± 1.8 9.5% ± 0.1 10.5% ± 2.7
Commute mode: Drove alone 78.0% ± 4.9 76.7% ± 2.2 65.7% ± 0.1 79.3% ± 2.9
Commute mode: Other means 0.0% ± 0.4 0.7% ± 0.4 1.7% ± 0.0 0.9% ± 0.8
Commute mode: Public transportation 1.0% ± 0.8 0.5% ± 0.3 2.9% ± 0.0 1.0% ± 0.7
Commute mode: Walked 1.4% ± 0.8 1.2% ± 0.4 2.4% ± 0.0 1.1% ± 0.5
Commute mode: Worked from home 6.5% ± 2.1 8.7% ± 1.2 17.2% ± 0.1 7.1% ± 1.6
Households without a vehicle 5.7% ± 1.9 6.4% ± 1.1 7.1% ± 0.1 8.8% ± 2.1

ACS values are estimates rather than exact counts. Linda estimates may have comparatively large margins of error, especially for less common commute modes. Small apparent differences between geographies should therefore be interpreted cautiously.

3 Scheduled Transit Service

The GTFS analysis describes scheduled availability rather than actual passenger use. A trip is counted once if it serves at least one stop in the Linda analysis area; a scheduled stop visit is counted each time a trip serves an individual Linda-area stop.

Scheduled Transit Service in the Linda Analysis Area
Analysis area Reference weekday Stops Distinct scheduled trips Scheduled stop visits Median trips per stop Trips per 1,000 residents
Linda CDP plus 1/4-mile buffer 2026-09-15 59 153 1,734 14 6.4

4 Traffic Safety

Year Reported collisions Injury collisions Fatal collisions Persons injured Persons killed Pedestrian collisions Bicyclist collisions Injury collisions per 10,000 residents
2021 356 110 5 137 5 21 6 46.1
2022 284 95 2 125 2 15 6 39.8

2025 292 104 3 148 3 6 6 43.6

5 Interpretation and Limitations

The findings should be interpreted with the following qualifications:

  • ACS uncertainty: The ACS five-year estimates combine data collected across 2020–2024. Margins of error should accompany all community-level percentages.
  • Geographic context: ZCTA 95901 extends beyond Linda and is included only as a contextual comparison. It is not a substitute for the Linda CDP.
  • Scheduled transit: GTFS describes published schedules. It does not measure actual arrivals, boardings, ridership, reliability, accessibility conditions, or residents’ experience using transit.
  • Collision location: The safety analysis includes crashes with valid coordinates that spatially intersect the Linda CDP. Records with missing or inaccurate coordinates may not be represented.
  • Serious injuries: Crash-level CCRS files identify fatalities and total injuries but do not contain the party/victim injury-severity detail required to calculate killed-or-seriously-injured (KSI) collisions. KSI should remain unreported unless party/victim files are incorporated.
  • Rates: The annual injury-collision rate uses the same ACS population denominator for each year. It is an approximate contextual rate rather than a year-specific population rate.
  • Descriptive analysis: Observed trends do not establish that the grant or another program caused changes in transportation behavior or collision outcomes.

7 Quality-Assurance Status

Automated Pipeline QA Results
Check Value Status Interpretation
Linda CDP geography rows 1 PASS Exactly one Linda CDP boundary is expected
ZCTA 95901 geography rows 1 PASS ZCTA is retained separately because it extends beyond Linda
ACS reporting geographies 4 PASS Linda CDP, ZCTA 95901, Yuba County, and California are expected
ACS indicator rows 36 PASS Expected: 4 geographies x (1 vehicle + 7 modes + 1 commute-time measure)
Duplicate ACS analytic keys 0 PASS No duplicate geography-indicator-category keys are allowed
ACS percentages outside 0-100 0 PASS All derived percentage estimates must be between 0 and 100

Distinct scheduled trips serving Linda 153 PASS Reference Tuesday: 2026-09-15
Scheduled stop visits in Linda area 1734 PASS A trip is counted once at each Linda-area stop it serves
CCRS local files located 5 PASS INFO is expected until files are downloaded or supplied
Collision summary rows 5 PASS Expected one row for each processed collision year
Injury collisions classified 526 PASS Based on CCRS number_injured and number_killed fields
Pedestrian or bicyclist collisions classified 112 PASS Based on CCRS involved-object, collision-type, and pedestrian-action fields
Serious-injury severity available 0 REVIEW Crash-level CCRS files identify deaths and total injuries, but not serious-injury severity; party/victim files are required for KSI
Destination summary rows 0 INFO Optional; requires partner destination coordinates and collision data

The pipeline’s overall PASS / REVIEW result indicates that required records were produced and automated checks passed. The review designation documents the unavailable serious-injury severity measure; it does not indicate a processing failure.
