Who Am I?
Hi! My name is Austin Phillips.
Synopsis
A few quick facts about me:
- Hometown: I am from Sachse,Texas (suburb of Dallas)
- Hobbies: I enjoy sports, watching or playing and I enjoy hanging out with my friends.
- Fun fact: I played football at UTSA and also coached for a year here.
I would describe myself as Curious and Funny, and outside of school/work I enjoy being outside.
Academic Background
I an currently studying Business Analytics at The University of Texas at San Antonio, and I graduate in December of 2026.
Professional Background
I have worked as a sales rep at a retailer, a waiter in the restaraunt industry and in the summer of 2026 I interned with a Food Broker.
Experience with R and Data Mining
My experience with R is still developing. I have used R for statistical and data-management assignments and have worked with datasets to perform tasks such as:
- Exploring datasets
- Calculating descriptive statistics
- Filtering and selecting observations
- Creating subsets of data
- Analyzing variables
- Writing and executing R code
I am currently learning more about data mining and statistical sampling and hope to become more comfortable using R for larger and more complicated projects.
Experience with Other Analytic Software
I have experience working with several different software programs, including Microsoft Excel, RStudio, PostgreSQL, and SQL.
I have used Excel for tasks involving financial analysis, forecasting, optimization, and other business-related calculations. I have also worked with PostgreSQL and SQL for managing and analyzing databases.
I am continuing to develop my technical skills because I believe being able to understand and analyze data is an important skill in today’s business environment.
