Overview

This analysis explores how movie genre relates to box office performance using a dataset of approximately 5,000 movies released between 2000 and 2025. The goal is to determine which genres tend to generate the highest box office revenue and to create a cleaner subset of the original data for analysis. Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as the Joker.

Along the way, a fellowship is formed to protect the ringbearer and make sure that the ring arrives at its final destination: Mt. Doom, the only place where it can be destroyed.
## 5 As armies mass for a final battle that will decide the fate of the world--and powerful, ancient forces of Light and Dark compete to determine the outcome--one member of the Fellowship of the Ring is revealed as the noble heir to the throne of the Kings of Men. Yet, the sole hope for triumph over evil lies with a brave hobbit, Frodo, who, accompanied by his loyal friend Sam and the hideous, wretched Gollum, ventures deep into the very dark heart of Mordor on his seemingly impossible quest to destroy the Ring of Power.

Eight years later, Batman encounters the mysterious Selina Kyle and the villainous Bane, a new terrorist leader who overwhelms Gotham's finest. The Dark Knight resurfaces to protect a city that has branded him an enemy.

Conclusions / Findings & Recommendations

Based on the dataset, Animation had the highest average box office revenue at approximately 303.6 million dollars per movie, followed closely by Adventure at approximately 301.3 million dollars. Sci-Fi also performed strongly in 3rd place with an average box office revenue of about $237.2 million.

These results suggest that Animation and Adventure tend to perform especially well at the box office within the 21st century. However, the number of movies varies considerably across genres, so future analysis could compare median revenue, examine profitability relative to budget, or if I wanted to take it to the next level, study how genre performance has changed over time.
