Method and limitations
Division of sources. Season rate stats come from
stats.ncaa.org and are recomputed from the counting stats. Recent-window
counting stats come from ESPN game box scores. Spray, situational and
baserunning tendencies come from ESPN play-by-play text. No column mixes
two of these.
What this report cannot do. There is no batting or
throwing handedness in the public college feeds, so there are no platoon
splits and no pull/oppo - only field direction. ESPN college
play-by-play does not reliably name the pitcher on the mound, so there
are no per-pitcher batter-level splits; that material is reported at
staff level. ESPN game box scores omit hit-by-pitch, sacrifice flies,
doubles and triples, so a window slash line cannot be rebuilt from them
and is not shown. National percentiles are unadjusted for strength of
schedule. Runners-in-scoring-position state is reconstructed from text
and is deliberately conservative.
