Here are just a few questions so I can get to know you and so you can get practice submitting an assignment in Canvas. For each question, insert your answer underneath. Make sure each answer is at the minimum a complete sentence with correctly spelled words and correct punctuation.
Where did you attend High School, and did you graduate? Compare English class to math, is one easier for you than the other? Finally which subject did you do the best in? Your answer should have at least two sentences devoted to each question.
I attended High School at Palmdale Aerospace Academy and graduated in 2023. Now I attend AVC and major in Biology. For me, Math tends to come easier than English and I tend to do better in these courses. Even as an avid reader, Math tends to click easier. I tend to do best in Science courses such as Biology and Chemistry. If I did not like Biology as a Biology major then I would be quite concerned.
For this class you need a computer you can use at home. So, what kind is it (windows, Apple, Linux)? On a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is a total dummy (doesn’t know a mouse from a keyboard) and 10 is a complete geek (knows computer stuff in and out) How do you rate yourself? You also need to have have internet access. How is your connection to the internet where you live?
At home, I have an Apple computer. It is an older model but runs the necessary programs perfectly. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate my computer skills as a 7. I have interned as an IT intern but programs such as the ones we used in class were completely new to me. The internet access in my home can be spotty or amazing. It is as if my internet decides to be a pain at the worst moments. However, if need be, I will find a place to work with better internet access.
What name do you prefer to be called by your classmates and instructor, if your buddys call you something but you want people in the class to call you something else - what would that be?
I would like to be called by my name Jennifer. I am also fine with people calling me Jen.
What do you want to achieve in life? What college subject do you think would be of the greatest interest to you? What degree or certificate are you trying to achieve?
In life, the thing that I want to achieve most is to create a safe and open environment for others. I know that time is limited and that I may not be able to reach other dreams but being able to treat others with kindness and care is possible. The college subject that would be of greatest interest to me would be microbiology. I love biology and to be able to know more about the small organisms around us would be so fun. I am trying to achieve a Biology Associates for transfer. I also need to take courses required by the universities in addition to the associates degree.
Have you ever gone to foreign countries, if so which ones, if not Where might you go in the future? Have you ever been in the military, if so which branch, if not which branch would you choose if you got drafted, and why?
The only foreign country that I have visited is Mexico. It is the home country of my parents and it has built up their values and personalities. I have never been in the military. If I were to join a branch, I would want to join the Air Force simply because I would not want to take on the physical rigor of other branches.
Did you take Math 115 or Math 116 ? Did you know Math 115 only
satisfies a general education requirement but that Math 116 counts as
taking statistics in several transfer institutions??
What grade do you need to attain in stats to not upset your future
plans, What is your plan?
No, I did not take Math 115 or Math 116. Yes, I did know that taking Math 116 is the better option for transfer. I found this out due to the Assist.org website. For my future plans, I would like to attain an A. Since I plan to transfer, I need to cushion my GPA and leave opportunity for a wider possibility in acceptances from colleges. My ultimate goal would be to get into a UC school or USC and therefore, an A would help my GPA and application.
