DEFINICIÓN DE LA VARIABLE

Causa y efecto:

El contenido de SiO2 influye en la variación del contenido de Al2O3 dentro de las muestras geoquímicas. Esta relación no es completamente lineal, por lo que se propone un modelo polinómico cúbico para representar mejor el comportamiento entre ambas variables.

TRATAMIENTO DE DATOS

Promediación de los datos

Inicialmente se realizó una depuración de datos faltantes. Posteriormente, se aplicó una agregación de datos agrupando los valores de SiO2 y calculando el promedio de Al2O3. Esto permite suavizar la dispersión de los datos y observar mejor la tendencia polinómica cúbica.

CONJETURA

La distribución de los puntos en el gráfico muestra una relación curvada entre SiO2 y Al2O3, lo que sugiere el uso de un modelo polinómico. A medida que cambia el contenido de SiO2, el porcentaje de Al2O3 no varía de forma totalmente lineal, sino que presenta una tendencia no lineal. Por ello, se propone un modelo polinómico cúbico, incluyendo el término , para representar mejor el comportamiento geoquímico entre ambas variables.

Justificación del uso de la regresión lineal lm()

Aunque el modelo planteado presenta una relación polinómica, se utiliza la función lm() porque el modelo puede expresarse como una combinación lineal de sus parámetros al incluir términos como y . Esto permite ajustar relaciones no lineales entre las variables mediante una regresión lineal respecto a sus coeficientes.

Modelo polinómico de grado 3:

Para aplicar regresión lineal se define cada término del polinomio como una variable explicativa:

CONCLUSIÓN

Entre SiO2 y Al2O3 existe una relación de tipo polinómica cúbica, representada por el modelo Y = 117.47 + -5.69X + 0.1031X² + -0.000608X³. El modelo incluye el término cúbico X³, por lo que permite representar una relación no lineal entre ambas variables geoquímicas. El coeficiente de Pearson obtenido fue de 96.6% y el coeficiente de determinación fue de 93.32%. Esto indica que el modelo polinómico cúbico permite explicar la variación del Al2O3 a partir del contenido de SiO2 dentro del rango de datos analizado.
