1 Finding Your People

Organizations that depend on civic participation all face a version of the same question: which people are most likely to engage in the behavior that matters to their mission? A nonprofit may want to know who’s most likely to volunteer; a university may want to know who’s most likely to give financially; an advocacy group — on any issue — may want to know who’s most likely to show up and take action; others may want to identify members of civic classes who are able to bridge political divides. This chart answers that question directly — hover over any point to see the exact probability that a given civic class engages in a specific behavior, based on a national survey of nearly 5,000 respondents.
