3 Feature reflection
Products Products (and services in some aspects) are Shopify’s core unit for anything sold. Products are defined by title, description, price, images, variants (size, type, colors, etc), and inventory tracking.
Collections Collections are browsable groupings of products, grouped manually or automated by rules.
Navigation The navigation is a menu system that guides customers through all pertinent shop pages and subsequent information, including but not limited to products, collections, about us, blogs, etc.
Checkout Checkout is the means through which transactions are completed.
Analytics Shopify’s built-in reporting of metrics (sales, conversion rate, top products) plus integration points for GA4.
4 CPP Farm Store application reflection
Integrating Shopify into CPP FarmStore’s could support in inventory tracking and expanding market growth, both with respect to grocery sales as well as gift basket services.
Features like collections and navigation would let the store organize fresh produce, CPP-branded goods, and gift baskets into clear, browsable categories, while product pages provide the structure to communicate what each item is and why it matters to a campus/community audience. Checkout handles the transactional side reliably out of the box, with a potential integration into current in-person checkout flow. Analytics would give the store visibility into what’s actually selling, which would be particularly useful for a business that hasn’t employed digital sales data previously.
It could potentially lower the technical barrier to going fully online while still leaving room to add more complex functionalities, such as custom gift baskets or inventory sync with the in-store POS.
