While AI brings new possibilities for efficiency and skill-building, concerns also exist about the potential effects that it could have on mental health and the workforce. Through analysis of survey data collected from higher education students as well as workforce predictions from the World Economic Forum, this article will examine some of the ways AI is impacting students today and into the future.
Generative AI is increasingly being utilized by students for diverse educational purposes. Early utilization of AI was primarily restricted to writing; however, its utilization now extends to translation, programming, data analysis, and even creative activities such as content creation. Meanwhile, the fear of loneliness seemed to be less pressing compared to common expectations. Finally, future forecasts concerning the working environment point to technology being a major disruptor.
