Generative AI is no longer a small part of student life. Between 2024 and 2025 the share of students that used AI rose by a large amount, including the use of assessment work.
The strongest growth is through learning support tasks, things such as explaining concepts, summarising articles or even suggesting ideas for research. This tells us that generative AI is intertwining with the study process and is not just being used as a shortcut.
Issues of academic misconduct are a major part of the AI problem. Women were found to be more likely than men to report generative AI issues because of cheating accusations and concerns about potential results
Students see AI skills as important for education and future work. On the flipside, the survey suggest a gap between what students need and the level of support they currently experience
