Selma Momani

About Me

Hello Everyone, I’m Selma Momani, a 3rd year Statistics and Data Science student at UCLA. I enjoy using data to solve worldwide problems and creating meaningful designs that are very beneficial through programming. My skills include R, Python, C++, data visualization, and statistics. In the future I would love to become a Machine Learning Engineer, while also starting up my own Artificial Intelligence Company, where I can bring ideas to life.

Projects

Blood Glucose and Caffeine Study

Description: I led a research project examining how caffeinated and decaffeinated beverages influence blood glucose levels across different age groups. The study investigated whether age-related differences in metabolism and caffeine sensitivity impact blood sugar responses. I contributed to the development of the research question, study design, data collection process, and statistical analysis. By analyzing trends in glucose measurements, the project provided valuable insights into the relationship between caffeine consumption and metabolic health while strengthening my skills in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication. The project helped identify trends in blood glucose responses across age groups and provided insights into how caffeine consumption may influence health.

Tools Used: R, statistics, experimental design, and data visualization.

Bruin Life Interactive Game

Description: I designed and developed an interactive simulation game in R that models a day in the life of a UCLA student. Players make decisions throughout the game that affect their academic performance, well being, and overall outcome, creating a personalized experience based on their choices. The project required building complex decision pathways, implementing conditional logic, and creating an engaging user experience. The completed game simulated student decision making and demonstrated how programming logic can be used to create engaging interactive experiences to engage users.l

Tools Used: R programming, conditional statements, and user interaction.
