DEFINICIÓN DE LA VARIABLE

El porcentaje de dióxido de silicio (SiO2) influye en la variación de la concentración de cobre (Cu) dentro de las muestras geoquímicas. Esta relación sigue una tendencia no lineal de decrecimiento o variabilidad exponencial/potencial, por lo que se propone un modelo matemático potencial (\(Y = a \cdot X^b\)) para representar adecuadamente el comportamiento entre ambas variables mineralógicas.

TRATAMIENTO DE DATOS

CONJETURA

La distribución de los puntos en el gráfico muestra una relación curvilínea decreciente/asintótica entre el contenido de SiO2 y la concentración de Cu. A medida que aumenta el porcentaje de sílice, la concentración de cobre disminuye a una tasa no constante. Por ello, se propone un modelo de regresión potencial \(Y = a \cdot X^b\), el cual permite modelar cambios porcentuales proporcionales entre ambas variables geoquímicas.

Justificación del uso de la regresión lineal lm()Aunque la relación entre el SiO2 y el Cu es de naturaleza potencial no lineal (\(Y = a \cdot X^b\)), es posible emplear la función lm() aplicando una transformación logarítmica en ambos lados de la ecuación:

Definiendo variables transformadas \(Y^* = \ln(Y)\), \(X^* = \ln(X)\) y constante \(\beta_0 = \ln(a)\), la ecuación se convierte en un modelo lineal en sus parámetros:

Por lo tanto, los parámetros se estiman mediante mínimos cuadrados ordinarios en R mediante la instrucción:

¿Existe algún valor de X que reemplazado en el modelo matemático genere un valor fuera del dominio de Y?

El modelo potencial exige estrictamente que \(X > 0\) e \(Y > 0\), dado que la transformación logarítmica \(\ln(0)\) no está definida matemáticamente. Físicamente, el porcentaje de SiO2 y la concentración de Cu son valores siempre positivos. Las estimaciones deben ser acotadas al rango observado de SiO2, evitando extrapolaciones a valores extremos cercanos a 0 o excesivamente altos donde el comportamiento geoquímico perdería validez.

CONCLUSIÓN

Entre el porcentaje de SiO2 y la concentración de Cu existe una relación de tipo potencial, representada por el modelo ajustado \(Y = a \cdot X^b\). El modelo permite describir la tasa de cambio en la concentración de cobre en función de variaciones en la proporción de sílice. El coeficiente de correlación de Pearson obtenido fue de r round(r, 2)% y el coeficiente de determinación de r round(R2, 2)%, indicando la capacidad explicativa del modelo dentro del dominio geoquímico estudiado.
