DEFINICIÓN DE LA VARIABLE

El contenido de SiO2 influye en la variación del porcentaje de MgO dentro de las muestras geoquímicas. A medida que se incrementa la concentración de sílice, el magnesio muestra una disminución progresiva con una tendencia no lineal que tiende a estabilizarse en contenidos altos de sílice. Esta relación se modela mediante una función logarítmica para capturar dicho comportamiento geoquímico.

TRATAMIENTO DE DATOS

Inicialmente se realizó una depuración de datos faltantes y valores no válidos para el cálculo logarítmico. Posteriormente, se aplicó una agregación de datos agrupando los valores de SiO2 y calculando el promedio de MgO. CONJETURA

La distribución de los puntos en el gráfico muestra una relación curvilínea con concavidad marcada entre SiO2 y MgO. A medida que aumenta el porcentaje de SiO2, el valor de MgO disminuye de forma acelerada en niveles bajos de sílice y luego atenúa su ritmo de cambio en niveles elevados. Por ello, se propone un modelo logarítmico de la forma \(Y = a + b \ln(X)\) para representar con precisión el comportamiento geoquímico entre ambas variables.

Justificación del uso de la regresión lineal lm()

Aunque la relación subyacente es no lineal respecto a la variable original \(X\), se utiliza la función lm() mediante la transformación logarítmica de la variable explicativa \(X' = \ln(X)\). Esto convierte la estructura matemática en un modelo lineal respecto a sus parámetros (\(Y = a + b X'\)), permitiendo aplicar el método de mínimos cuadrados ordinarios en R.

Debido a la naturaleza de la función logarítmica, la variable independiente \(X\) (SiO2) requiere estrictamente valores mayores a cero (\(X > 0\)). Geoquímicamente, tanto el SiO2 como el MgO representan porcentajes en peso y deben tomar valores positivos. CONCLUSIÓN

Entre el contenido de SiO2 y el porcentaje de MgO existe una relación de tipo logarítmica representada por el modelo \(Y = a + b \ln(X)\). El ajuste obtenido permite modelar el comportamiento geoquímico caracterizado por una variación acentuada en niveles bajos de sílice y una posterior estabilización. Con un coeficiente de correlación de Pearson de r round(r, 2)% y un coeficiente de determinación de r round(R2, 2)%, el modelo resulta adecuado para predecir el contenido de MgO dentro del rango de datos analizado.
