Transportation

Open-Ended Concerns

Open-ended concerns and issues raised by respondents (n = 41)
Open-ended concern
Beer Street
Better sidewalks and bus seats at stops (benches)
Bike Share (rental) stations in the neighborhood, YNHH contributing to bus and alternative transportation after they built more parking garage.
Bike lane, bussing at Ami-stad (blocking) drug dealing, standing on Orchard.
Clean the area is good
Communication and community that care about community and people
Community gardens, grow- ing more trees. Teaching how to grow thru edu- cational systems community polic- ing, clean water.
Continue to build a sense of community and welcoming atmosphere. Do not allow large absentee landlords who are pushing us out with high rents and poor condition; hold them accountable.
Crime reduction
Crime reduction, more local businesses
Dwight Gardens owned by Navirino property are bully landlords. I would like to see a rec center for our neighborhood
Dwight Street is a great neighborhood with great housing, nearby businesses and everything is perfectly within walking distance. It’s a very safe place to raise a family and being an active member of the community.
Fellowship saved my life
How can we sustain independent of city svs.
I am concerned about speeding down Edgewood
I don’t see many mentor programs. More children are feeling alone and need guidance as well as someone to confide in. Someone to provide a safe space for them to express themselves and not have to harbour their emotions.
I feel safe in the community but, a little noisy.
I would like to see less teenagers out at night beating homeless people and damaging property.
Less litter on the ground
More accessible social events
More affordable housing
More clean up the neighborhood days.
More community invilvement.
More home ownership. For first time homeonwers. Land trust model. Too many absentee landlords that do not maintain these properties.
More of this! Togetherness [The June 1 Festival]
Neighborhood garden, Letting kids learn a trade
Neighborhood park
None
Pagers on the ground and cans should be cleaned up by the whole community
Parks for kids, events for families. High cost to live here. High cost to buy house.
People need to stop racing down the street and at night let the people sleep keep down the talking
Programs for children and youth, taking place in Rainbow park and Kensington playground. The prompt reassignment of vacant lots (such as at Orchard and Whalley) and abandoned houses to the development of community gardens and affordable housing. Getting homegrown fruits and vegetables to market. Helping children and youth find constructive things to do with their time when they are not busy with school or homework, including community service. Encourage children and youth to study music in school and learn how to play instruments.
Racing on Sherman Ave.
Renter
The streets need cops walking the beats.
To many corner and 1 right in back of the other one chapel and derby. liquor store. Sherman capel, beer st chapel, chapel noon across the street from the other corner store, ellsworth and chapel,Derby Ave 2 right next to each Derby. This is ridiculous. The corner stores bring the trash. No other stop and shop looks like the one on whalley ave. Men came to Edgewood Park to shoot dice told use we needed to leave the park. Because they were going to shoot dice. They had guns and liquor. 2 most dangerous weapons ever. Jewish family were at the park. African teenagers came start harassing them bad. It scared us. They called them every hated name in the book. They spit on them. It was disgusting and scary. There aren’t any police at Edgewood Park. NONE! IF YOU GO ON THE TRAIL. YOU CAN ACTUALLY FEEL EYES PEEPING FROM THE BUSH
Use of empty commercial space.
We need more of the community to come together collaboration
Would like to have access to a car so it’s easier to work. Opportunities to meet people and make new friends.
aqua therapy center, food growing including soil health and earthworm nurseries
greater dwight development corp
