I am an Argentine physician pursuing a NSGY residency in the US. Over the past three years, I have worked with the Barrow Global team on a variety of projects.
During the last year, I worked remotely from Argentina on several research initiatives, including the development of an economic model to evaluate the costs of clipping and coiling for unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIAs) in LMICs, as well as projects on brain drain, among others.
In December, I traveled to Phoenix to spend a month with the team prior to my trip to KCMC. During that time, I accelerated ongoing projects, shadowed in the operating room, and worked closely with mentors and colleagues. In mid-January, I traveled with Cyrus to Moshi, where my work at KCMC began.
As of now, my formal role with Barrow Global has concluded, although I continue to collaborate on ongoing projects.
My year as a Barrow Global Scholar—and its outcomes—was structured around three main pillars: research, education, and clinical activities.
