What variables impact the likelihood of receiving an Autism
diagnosis?
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnoses have
been on the rise globally. This dashboard shows the progression of ASD
diagnosis since the categorical diagnosis of autism under Pervasive
Developmental Disorders (PDD) in the DSM-IV,
released in 1994, to understanding autism as a continuous spectrum in DSM-5,
released in 2013, to today.
This dashboard aims to show key variables that can impact an individual’s likelihood of receiving an ASD diagnosis, including the economic status of the country of residence, age, and sex, and how these factors have changed over time.
The data used to generate this dashboard has been sourced from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation’s Global Burden of Disease (GBD) database.
