This is a summary of the presentation, project paper, and a brief overview of the course.
Analysis of the Kruger data
In groups, we will analyze the data and prepare a presentation and a four-page report. The group presentation will be Thursday, 16 April and Tuesday, 21 April. The group report on this analysis will be due by the end of the following week (24 April).
The presentation to class will be 15 minutes. Post a ppt file the day before presentations start to Canvas. Here is a structure you can use:
Introduction
The unanswered question
Why it matters
How you will answer it
Methods, describe:
Data
Analysis
Results - what the data say
Discussion - interpret the data in light of the question/hypothesis
Your Overview of Biodiversity on a Changing Planet
This is optional for undergrads
I would like to know what impact the class has. I ask that you individually prepare a brief overview (three-pages) summarizing what the course has meant to you. The topic will address how topics in the readings and field trip changed your perspective on biodiversity. It does not require new research on your part. This document will be due on 24 April.
Think of this overview as a narrative, where topics connect to a main theme. The structure of this report can be:
Introductory paragraph – introduce the narrative and summarize key points that will be addressed in the main text
Main text, describe:
- your initial views on the topic
- elements of the class that influenced your perspective: be specific on the role of each, including the readings, lectures, and field trip
- your current perspective, including topics that you would like to explore further
Conclusion paragraph - Summarize your main points
