I began with a line chart showing daily attendance across all twelve days of the 2025 Minnesota State Fair. This visualization highlights the rhythm of turnout—where attendance peaks, where it dips, and how the fair progresses over time.

I chose a bar chart to compare Minnesota’s attendance to other major state fairs. This compares totals across states and visually shows that Minnesota’s fair is consistently strong.

To explore how affordability influences attendance, I used a scatterplot showing the relationship between pricing and turnout. Scatterplots are ideal for illustrating correlations, and this chart shows how ticket cost and overall affordability can encourage or discourage attendance.

I chose a map-based visualization to show the importance of geography, transportation, and accessibility. Minnesota’s fairgrounds benefit from a central location between Minneapolis and St. Paul, supported by strong transit options and ample parking. A map is the most intuitive way to communicate spatial relationships and logistical convenience.Chart D

To represent the variety of attractions offered at the fair, I used a histogram. This chart highlights the distribution of categories, such as food, entertainment, and special events, that draw visitors each year. A histogram effectively shows the breadth of offerings and how they contribute to the fair’s strong attendance.

Finally, I used a density plot to show how weather conditions influence attendance. Mild weather typically supports higher turnout, while extreme heat or storms reduce participation. A density plot helps illustrate the spread of weather conditions and their relationship to attendance patterns.
