Summary

In this assignment, I analyzed data from both the Trans-Atlantic and Intra-American slave trade to better understand slave imports into the United States. The data shows that imports increased significantly during the 1700s and peaked in the late 18th and early 19th centuries before declining. States like South Carolina, Virginia, and areas along the Gulf Coast received much larger numbers compared to northern regions. Overall, this assignment shows that the slave trade was both time-specific and geographically concentrated, reflecting how the system operated through major port regions over particular decades.
