Hello, my name is Alejandra Guerrero. Here is a picture of me:

Personal Background

I’m from Austin and have two younger brother’s that are currently in middle school. I’m more of an introvert, but when striking a conversation, I like to talk a lot. I always like to say I have both a logical and creative mindset. I like to think things out being realistic with the circumstances but still think of creative ways to think outside the box.

I maintain a very busy schedule working two jobs on campus; one as a peer mentor with the First Year experience program (FYE), and the other as a learning experience collaborator (LEC). I’m also am a board member of the Professional Businesswomen’s Society (PBWS), and a member of three other organizations on campus. However during my free time, have a lot of hobbies: I like to read, crochet, knit, cross stitch, and I even started embroidery recently!

Academic Background

Major: Business Analytics

Minor: Management Science

Classification: Senior, graduating this spring

Relevant Coursework: MS 3083, MS 3053, MS 3313, MS 3037

Academic Interests: Honestly at this point, I just want to graduate and figure out my next steps after graduation. I do know I want to get a Master’s at some point, but my current plan is to establish my career first, and then find out which Master’s degree would help me further develop my career.

Professional Background

I’ve had entry level job’s learning customer service and other soft skills before and a little bit into college. In fall 2024, I became a peer mentor in the FYE department, and still currently hold this position. Every semester I manage about 50 students and have to coordinate to meet with them once a month throughout the semester among other responsibilities to stay organized like tracking meetings, writing client reports, etc.

In fall 2025, I became a learning experience collaborator apart of the Students as Partners program here on campus. It’s not an hourly paid, so I classify it as more of an internship since I receive a stipend at the end of the semester. My responsibilities consist of observing a class once a week and write down notes and ideas to then collaborate with the professor with the main goal in mind of improving students learning experiences.

Other leadership experiences on campus, I am the Secretary for PBWS, so I manage and organize all information to make sure it is communicated efficiently and correctly to all members. I also manage our point system, keep track of attendance records so that we can track our member retention and so members know what status they hold as the semester progresses. Also for fall 2025, I was the Director of Ambassador’s for the Business Student Council (BSC). I led a small team of ambassador’s within the organization mentoring them and working on their professional development while also growing the program itself.

Experience with R & Data Mining

Off the top of my head, I’m semi-confident when it comes to coding in R. I have the knowledge and skill to complete tasks, but I’m not confident enough because I think it’s harder than it actually is. However, once I do complete tasks, I realize it wasn’t that difficult at all.

Previous classes I’ve taken was MS 3083, but that was back in Spring of 2024. So this semester I’m kind of refreshing my mind a little bit while taking this class and MS 3313.

I hope to regain my knowledge that I have with this software along with new skills to for develop my understanding and use it to my advantage in data mining.

Experience with Other Analytic Software

Including MS 3083, and MS 3073, I have experience in SAS in data mining/manipulation along with statistical analysis. I have very little experience in SQL, but have taken a workshop a couple of semester’s ago, so I know the basics and know it’s easy to learn.

I’m most confidently proficient in excel. I have taken multiple classes on it re-learning the same skills, but I also use excel/google sheets when working my job or managing my responsibilities as Secretary in PBWS. I’m also confident and have experience in Tableau, taking that course and an extra course in the Global Career Accelorator program working on multiple projects for data analysis.
