Introduction to my Data
My data comes from the OECD/AIAS database on Institutional Characteristics of Trade Unions, Wage Setting, State Intervention and Social Pacts (ICTWSS). It essentially looks at various aspects of collective bargaining and negotiation to do with the terms and conditions of employment for countries across the world.
Example Visualization
Here is a visualization showing union density based on government intervention for all countries.
While some of the highest trade union densities come from low levels of government intervention, these are the result of the wide range and represent outliers. On the other hand, higher levels of government intervention leads to a smaller range, but higher medians of trade union density.
