The data used in this analysis come from the Canadian Labour Force Survey (LFS), conducted by Statistics Canada. The LFS surveys the civilian, non-institutionalized population aged 15 and over across Canada, excluding individuals living on reserves, full-time members of the Canadian Armed Forced, institutionalized populations, and those in extremely remote areas.
This analysis uses pool data from the July 2017 and July 2021 survey waves. The sample is restricted to a 10 percent sub sample of employed workers with earnings. The final dataset contains 24,086 individuals and 22 variables. The unit of analysis is the individual worker.
The dataset includes demographic, family, educational, and emplyment-related variables, including hourly earnings measured in 2021 Canadian dollars and job tenure in months.
