My name is Jesse Keller. I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska and obtained BA degrees in both Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Shortly after graduating, I pursued a MA in mathematics education to make a difference in childrens’ lives, while also hopefully helping them enjoy a subject which many of them struggle to enjoy which is near and dear to my heart. After a few years in the profession, however, I decided my main passion is in understanding complicated patterns and explaining said patterns to others. Data Analytics presented itself as one such avenue for pursuing this interest for me.
As a CS/Mathematics double major, I have experience in a variety of languages/technologies relevant to data analytics, including in R, Python, and excel. Throughout my Statistics class I took, R was the primary language we used in performing statistics calculations (ie, finding mean, median, mode, SD, Var, and CDFs for various distributions). However, stats did not give me a lot of experience collecting, wrangling, or creating visualizations for large data sets. I am excited to learn more about these topics in this class, and in others to come.
