Weekly case counts up to week 26 have fluctuated within a broad plateau rather than following a clear upward or downward trend. After the sharp week 23 surge (291 cases, +174.5%), cases fell to 176 in week 24 and 159 in week 25, before edging back up to 186 in week 26 (+17.0%). Six deaths were reported in week 26 (CFR 3.2%), the highest weekly death count in recent weeks, after no deaths in week 25. The three-week moving average eased to 174, no longer dominated by the week 23 spike. Transmission continues to be driven overwhelmingly by individuals aged 5 years and above, who accounted for 332 of the 345 cases reported over weeks 25 to 26.
Recent transmission (W25 to W26) remains concentrated in the central urban LGAs, with the highest two-week attack rates in Ungogo (11.1/100,000, no deaths), Dala (6.9), Nasarawa (6.4, CFR 1.4%), Gwale (5.4), Fagge (5.2, CFR 5.3%) and Kumbotso (4.8). Incidence has eased relative to the preceding two weeks (W23 to W24), when the same urban cluster recorded higher attack rates (Ungogo 12.4, Dala and Fagge 11.5, Gwale 9.8, Kumbotso 8.1), and the overall two-week attack rate fell to 2.0/100,000. Six deaths were reported in W25 to W26: Rogo (2), Nasarawa (1), Fagge (1), Kura (1) and Sumaila (1). The very high case fatality rates shown for Rogo, Kura and Sumaila (50 to 100%) reflect single cases in small rural LGAs rather than a true fatality risk, and warrant verification. Crude mortality over the last four weeks (W23 to W26) is highest in Rogo (0.48/100,000), Ungogo (0.44), Kura (0.38) and Kumbotso (0.37), while the cumulative burden (since 2025-W01) stays centred on the urban core, led by Ungogo (13.6/100,000), Kumbotso (8.7), Tarauni (6.7) and Nasarawa (6.4). Cumulative totals now reach 10,683 cases and 481 deaths (CFR 4.5%).

Up to week 26, the epidemiological picture following the week 23 surge (291 cases, Rt 2.06, +174.5%) is one of a fluctuating plateau: cases fell to 176 at week 24 (-39.5%, Rt 0.70), 159 at week 25 (-9.7%, Rt 0.93, no deaths), then rose to 186 at week 26 (+17.0%, Rt 1.12). Six deaths were reported in week 26 (CFR 3.2%), and the two-week CFR (W25 to W26) is 1.8% (6 deaths among 342 cases). The three-week moving average eased to 174 as the week 23 spike drops out of the window. Rt hovering around 1 (0.93 at W25, 1.12 at W26) signals ongoing but unstable transmission rather than clear decline. Cumulative totals now stand at 10,683 cases and 481 deaths (CFR 4.5%). Continued close monitoring is warranted, particularly for the mortality signals in the small rural LGAs of Rogo, Kura and Sumaila.
