Introduccion

Este cuaderno de R ilustra cómo descargar los datos de propiedades del suelo a cualquier profundidad desde la plataforma SoilGrids, Estos datos están en estructura Raster con resolución espacial de 250m.

Ventajas de descargar datos de SoildGrids usando Rstudio

Este metodo ofrece varias ventajas sobre otros modos de descarga de datos, ya que es mas adaptable para varios proyectos a la vez y se puede revisar a fondo como se filtraron los datos descargados, como tambien solo tener una aplicacion para no estar importando o exportando

Opciones para descargar los datos

SoilGrids ofrece tres clases de servicios principales para descargarlos:

  1. Web Mapping Service (WMS): Útil para visualización y exploración general de los datos.
  2. Web Coverage Service (WCS): La mejor opción para obtener subconjuntos de mapas y usar SoilGrids como entrada para otros modelos.
  3. Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV): Permite descargar mapas globales completos en formato VRT.

En este cuaderno utilizaremos el servicio WebDAV, que nos permite descargar datos específicos para nuestra región de interés de manera eficiente.

2.Configuraciones

Primero se limpia el espacio de trabajo

2.1 Que es SolilGrids?

SoilGrids es un sistema global de información de suelos desarrollado por ISRIC – World Soil Information. Está diseñado para predecir propiedades y clases de suelos (como textura, carbono orgánico, pH, densidad aparente, etc.) a nivel mundial usando:

-Modelos estadísticos y de machine learning,

-Variables ambientales globales (covariables),

-Y bases de datos de suelos observados.

¿Cómo funciona?

SoilGrids usa datos de todo el mundo (perfiles de suelos reales) y los combina con información ambiental (clima, relieve, cobertura vegetal, etc.) para predecir las propiedades del suelo en cualquier punto del planeta.

Los resultados se entregan en formato raster (imágenes geográficas), con una resolución estándar (por ejemplo, de 250 m o 1 km).

Qué se puede obtener:

Cada celda del mapa contiene valores como:

Carbono orgánico (%)

Textura (arena, limo, arcilla)

pH

Densidad aparente

Capacidad de intercambio catiónico, entre otros.

2.2 Definir las variables de interes

el código crea una dirección (URL) que lleva directamente al archivo virtual VRT, el cual contiene información sobre el carbono orgánico del suelo (SOC) en la capa de 15 a 30 centímetros de profundidad.

Este archivo no guarda todos los datos físicamente, sino que funciona como un enlace inteligente que permite acceder solo a la parte del mapa que necesitas, sin tener que descargar todo el conjunto de datos.

3.Descargar una variable para un departamento en especifico

Tomamos el geopackage de departamento que hemos llevado a travez del curso y lo pegamos en la misma carpeta del cuaderno y lo llamamos

Tenga en cuenta que la siguiente tarea puede tardar varios minutos, solo ejecútela una vez

Leemos el archivo descargado y aplicamos el factor de conversión. Según la documentación de SoilGrids, los valores de SOC están en unidades mapeadas y deben dividirse por 10 para obtener gramos por kilogramo (g/kg).

4. Exploracion de datos

Generamos un histograma para ver los valores del carbono organico y como este esta distribuido

Cambiamos el nombre del atributo para que sea más claro mas adelante:

7. Guardar las muestras

La función sf::st_write() guarda los datos espaciales en diversos formatos. En este caso usamos GeoPackage (GPKG), que es:

¿Qué hace append = FALSE?

El parámetro append = FALSE indica que si el archivo ya existe, debe ser sobrescrito completamente. Si usáramos append = TRUE, se agregarían los datos al archivo existente sin eliminar el contenido previo. Usar FALSE asegura que siempre tenemos actualizados nuestros datos.
