Getting started with R Markdown

My notes from the Videolecture by Garrett Grolemund https://posit.co/resources/videos/getting-started-with-r-markdown/

Some important notes: Use Rproject so that all the info and working directory is set. In addition, you can have access to all the data. And then if you have update data, all you need to do is to have that new data here in this folder and everything and the entire report gets update. This is exactly what I would like to have for my Health Econ and Inequality Econ. Reporduce the work on Olympic Medals!!! So cool.

You don’t have to redo and knit the entire report. You can just run the chunks of code…by pressing “play” where the code is or by pressing “Run all”

Just posted my R Markdown on Rpubs…hopefully I can also delete it if I want. Not sure how yet. Also, does it automatically update the document…or do I need to press publish?

Very Useful Websites

https://rpubs.com/ this is where you can publish R Markdown documents.

This is an R Markdown document. Markdown is a simple formatting syntax for authoring HTML, PDF, and MS Word documents. For more details on using R Markdown see http://rmarkdown.rstudio.com.

When you click the Knit button a document will be generated that includes both content as well as the output of any embedded R code chunks within the document. You can embed an R code chunk like this:

summary(cars)
## speed dist
## Min. : 4.0 Min. : 2.00
## 1st Qu.:12.0 1st Qu.: 26.00
## Median :15.0 Median : 36.00
## Mean :15.4 Mean : 42.98
## 3rd Qu.:19.0 3rd Qu.: 56.00
## Max. :25.0 Max. :120.00

Including Plots

You can also embed plots, for example:

Note that the echo = FALSE parameter was added to the code chunk to prevent printing of the R code that generated the plot.
