What changed most ?

Theft levels did not increase evenly across Victoria from 2024 to 2025. Some local government areas (LGAs) saw much larger increases than others. Areas like Wyndham and Casey, which are growing quickly, had the biggest percentage jumps, indicating they are becoming new theft hotspots.

Types of Thef

Theft from motor vehicles is the most common theft offence in Victoria in 2025, followed by general theft and retail theft. This suggests that parked vehicles and shopping areas remain key targets for offenders. Lower-level offences such as bicycle theft occur less frequently in comparison.
